Before you order

Will it fit your window?

Most small windows work. Check these three things first.

  • 20 inches wide or moreCordless shades start at 20 inches wide. Motorized shades start at 22 inches.
  • 24 inches tall or moreEvery shade starts at 24 inches tall. Measure your window first to be sure.
  • 3 inches of depthFor no-drill, the window frame needs at least 3 inches of depth. Check that no lock or crank is in the way.

Not deep enough? Choose a wall-mounted shade instead. It needs a drill.

Window smaller than this? We can’t make a shade that small.

How private will it be?

It depends on the fabric. For a bathroom, blackout is the safest pick.

  • BlackoutThe most privacy. No one can see through the fabric, day or night.
  • Light filteringSoft light comes through. At night with the lights on, it may not give full privacy.
  • SolarCuts the glare, and you can still see out. At night with the lights on, people may be able to see in.

Cordless or motorized

Pick how it moves.

Neither one has a cord or chain to pull.

Questions

Small window questions

What is the smallest shade you make?

Cordless shades start at 20 inches wide and 24 inches tall. Motorized shades start at 22 inches wide. The shade builder shows the limits for your choices.

Do I need a drill to put one up?

Not if you choose no-drill. Anyone can put one up in about 10 minutes, with no drill, no tools and no installer. The window frame needs at least 3 inches of depth. Wall-mounted shades need a drill.

Which fabric is best for a bathroom window?

Blackout gives the most privacy, day and night. Light filtering lets in soft light, but at night with the lights on it may not give full privacy. Skip solar in a bathroom, because people may be able to see in at night.

What works for a small kitchen window?

Light filtering softens the sun and keeps the room bright. Solar cuts the glare, and you can still see outside while you cook.

What if the window is hard to reach?

Choose Motorized and use a remote, so you never reach over a tub or a sink. One remote can run several shades. Remotes are sold separately. Motorized shades start at 22 inches wide.

Are they safe for homes with young kids?

Every shade comes Cordless or Motorized, so there are no cords or chains to pull. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission says cordless is the safest choice when young children are around.

How do I measure a small window?

For no-drill, measure inside the frame. Measure the width at the top, middle and bottom, and use the smallest. Measure the height once, down the middle. Our measuring guide walks you through it.

What if I measure wrong?

We make that shade again for 50% off its price, and shipping on the new shade is free. This is one time per shade. Ask within 30 days after it arrives.

How long does it take to get my shades?

Each shade is made to order to fit your window. Most orders arrive in 3 to 4 weeks. Shipping is free on orders of $399 or more.
